4 Tips for Keeping Your Home Exterior Looking Great

All the houses in your neighborhood look fantastic, and then there’s yours. You haven’t cleaned your siding in so long that there’s moss growing from it. You haven’t gotten around to clearing out your gutter glossary in forever, and your driveway is full of cracks and holes.

It’s not that you don’t want to get your place up to standards, it’s that you haven’t had the time. What if we told you that you could spruce up your home exterior in a single weekend?

You would be surprised at what a power washer and a little caulk can do. Are you ready to get started? Grab your yard tools, and let’s get to work.

1. Invest in a Power Washer

There are two ways that you can go about cleaning your home siding. You could use the old soap and water method. Scrubbing with a rag will take a lot of time, and it will allow harmful chemicals to seep into the earth, however.

If you want to avoid this, we suggest investing in a power washer. This option uses high-pressurized water and steam to get the job done. This machine works for more than your home siding. You can also use it on your deck, patio, and pool.

Before you use it on your siding, it may be a good idea to repair any cracks and other damages. You can go here to learn more about that.

2. Clean Your Gutters

If you allow your gutters to get too full, the water and debris will spill over and pool around your home foundation. After a while, this can cause the material to break down. It will compromise the building’s entire structure.

To stop this from happening, you’ll need to clean your gutters at least twice a year. Grab a sturdy ladder and a pair of gloves. This can be one of the messiest parts of exterior upkeep.

You can use a kitchen spatula or a child’s toy shovel to scoop the debris out of the gutters. Once everything is cleared out, flush the gutters using a water hose.

3. Do a Roof Inspection

If you have any shingles missing from your roof, it leaves your home vulnerable to leaking. A patchy roof also doesn’t do wonders for your curb appeal.

Do an inspection every now and again. You can climb a ladder or use a pair of binoculars for this purpose. You should hire a company to come out once or twice a year to do a professional inspection as well.

4. Maintain Your Driveway

If there’s a bunch of cracks and chips in your driveway, it will distract from the rest of your outdoor home care efforts. You can fix the small damages yourself by using a cement repair kit.

Spruce Up Your Home Exterior

Do you want to get your home exterior up to par with the rest of the houses on your block? You can do it within a single afternoon if you have the right tools on your side. Concrete driveway overlay can also be a good way to spruce up your driveway. It may be simple but a concrete overlay will bring out your driveway’s beauty.
