Mari Makinami Illustrious, which in Japanese is pronounced as Makinami Mari Irasutoraisu, is a fictional character in the history of animated Japanese films. The name of the film series is known as The Rebuild of Evangelion. It is a movie series. In the movie, she acts as an Evangelion pilot. Besides this she is also a third party operative which debuted in the movie Evangelion 2.0 You can ( not ) advance. She has appeared in a total no of 3 movies which include Evangelion 2.0 You can ( not ) advance, Evangelion 3.0 You can ( not ) Redo and Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice upon a time. She is known as the Fourth Child. Her exact age is unknown but it during the time period of the three films, it is arounf 38-62. Ryoji Kaji is his relative and she first appeared in Petit Eva : Evangelion @ game. She has been voiced by Trina Nishimura in Japanese and Deneen Melody in the amazon dub.

Mari Makinami is known for her beautiful and cutely styled brunette hair. She has styled it in the form of two twin tails and her bangs are parted to both sides of her face. She also wears a head band which is indigo ( blueish ) in color. The headband has a white robotic design. Her eye color is teal and she wears glasses which are burgundy in color. For her top, she prefers white shirt with a symbol on her left chest with a dark grey tie. Below that she wears a red and green pleated skirt with dark knee high socks and brown loafers for foot wear. Her plugsuits are pink in color. Though her first plugsuit was dark green.

She is an amazing pilot in the series who genuinely enjoys to fly high. She admits that she enjoys the smell of LCL. It has been revealed that she does her job for an operative third party. Her designation as a pilot is still unknown. She may not have a high amount of experience as far as piloting goes, but she has proved herself to be a master in flying. She is on the same level as Asuka in the series. Makinami is always full of energy and power. She usually stays in a positive mood. She tends to sing to her self when she is alone inside the plug. Mari Makinami has a friendly attitude towards friends and other people but she can be aggressive in a battle. In her fight against the third angel she is ready to sacrifice her life. However, in the end the plug ejected in the last moment and she wasn’t caught up in the explosion.

Mari is named after the world war 2 warship, the Japanese destroyer known as Makinami.
In her old design her plus is named and numbered 04 instead of 05.
Animators were going with a green plugsuit for her but at the last moment they decided to go for pink.
